West Side Story is the award-winning musical adaptation of Romeo and Juliet.
The feuding families become two warring New York City gangs – the white Jets led by Riff (Russ Tamblyn) and the Puerto Rican Sharks, led by Bernardo (George Chakiris).

When Riff's best friend Tony (Richard Beymer) and Bernardo's younger sister Maria (Natalie Wood) meet at a dance, no one can do anything to stop them falling in love.

‘America’, ‘Tonight’, ‘Maria’, ‘Somewhere’... The classic score by Leonard Bernstein, with lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, is packed with recognisable songs that have become standards. Also notable for the choreography of Jerome Robbins, West Side Story deservedly won 10 Oscars including Best Picture.

‘It's impossible to begrudge the vertiginous energy and feeling that make this one of the great American musicals’ – The Telegraph (UK)
