Noel Butlin Archive Tour - Fantastic Futures Canberra 2024
Join Roxanne Missingham, University Librarian & Chief Scholarly Information Officer and Kathryn Dan University Archivist for a tour of the Noel Butlin Archive and a digital showcase. The Archive has records of large Australian companies, smaller businesses, pastoral stations, peak councils and registered trade unions. The digital showcase will be of the Sydney Stock Exchange Registers (199 volumes, 1901-1950). Using open source (Tesseract) and commercial services (Textract) to recognise and transcribe extract company and share names and prices from printed pages and handwritten text from the digitised registers. A computational archive was established that is accessible to researchers in social and economic history.
Hosted by Roxanne Missingham.
