1948 | DCP | US | D: Alfred Hitchcock

Two arrogant young men attempt to pull off the perfect crime by killing a man, shoving him into a trunk, and then inviting his friends and family over for dinner – using the trunk as the buffet.

Rope is Hitchcock's audacious experiment set in real-time and filmed to appear as a single continuous take. It is a chilling exploration of moral detachment, intellectual hubris, and the fine line between theory and action. It also marks James Stewart’s first appearance in a Hitchcock film.

‘A master of suspense, Hitchcock delights in toying with his audience, repelling and luring his viewers into the scene of a crime – and nowhere more audaciously than in Rope.’ – The Guardian
