The NFSA collection contains more than 1,700 silent films, most of which were produced in the early to mid-twentieth century. This wealth of footage offers a window into Australian life in the lead-up to the Great Depression and our relationship to both labour and leisure, hardship and prosperity.
From rollercoasters to rural living, between the salt flats, fields and factories, composers from the ANU School of Music will showcase new scores for a selection of these silent films, exploring the carousel of Australian labour and leisure – when we were hard at work, and when we were not.

Presented in collaboration with The Australian National University School of Music.

PARKING

There is dedicated visitor parking on the premises between McCoy Circuit and Ellery Cresent (paid parking, up to three hours). There is also limited free parking surrounding the building on Liversidge Street.
We recommend using public transport in peak times.

Accessible parking is available off McCoy Circuit.
Wheelchair/accessible access via Liversidge Street.
