Dementia Friendly Screening- UPSTAGEING Canberra

1959 | 35mm | USA | D: Billy Wilder

Billy Wilder’s film Some Like it Hot is set in Prohibition era Chicago and stars Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon, and Marilyn Monroe. Joe (Curtis) and Jerry (Lemmon) are two struggling musicians who witness a mob murder and need to get out of town fast. They make their escape by dressing as women and joining an all-female band on a train travelling to Miami. The band’s ukelele player Sugar (Monroe) befriends the two new band members, but when Joe falls for her, he needs to find a way to woo Sugar while maintaining their disguise. With both the mob and other suitors in pursuit, there are plenty of laugh-out-loud moments in this classic comedy.
