A wooden puppet must prove his courage and honesty after he’s brought to life by the Blue Fairy.
Disney’s second movie (after Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs) established many of the conventions that would dominate the studio’s style, including animating machines, weather and shadows using multiplane cameras, and integrating music with animation, especially in the signature tune ‘When You Wish Upon a Star’. It was the first animated feature film to win a competitive Academy Award.
“Every element in Pinocchio shimmers with the energy of young artists revelling in their newly discovered powers of creation.” – Los Angeles Times
Presented on 35mm film prints from the NFSA collection.
