A lonely boy living a hermit life with his father on South Australia’s coast rescues three orphan pelican chicks after their mother is shot by hunters. One, who he names Mr Percival, becomes his friend.
Staying close to the original book by Colin Thiele, the 1976 film version offers an uplifting take and stars David Gulpilil as Fingerbone Bill, an Aboriginal man who befriends the boy.
”The three key (human) performances are wonderful but Percival steals the show. In many ways this plucky and precious pelican is the core of the film.” – The Guardian
Come in your comfiest PJs, bring your favourite teddy or blanket, and enjoy this extra-cosy, Friday night family screening with pizza on arrival (included with ticket purchase).
Pizza will be served from 5.45pm. Film screening commences at 6.05pm.
Our on-site café and bar is open 1 hour prior to the screening for drinks and snacks.
Catch more outstanding performances by David Gulpilil with our retrospective program - available as a 6-film pass.
